PRODUCT REVIEW // L'OREAL SUBLIME BRONZE SELF-TANNING TOWELETTES
Price: $9.99
To describe how pale I am, when I go to buy foundation at Sephora or anywhere, I always get color
matched to fair. That's literally one shade away from the lightest shade that is offered. I don't tan, I burn. I walk out into the sun for 5 mins and I will turn red. I used to tan at tanning salons way back in the day, 5 days a week. The UV light helped my psoriasis, but the thought of getting skin cancer made me stop about 10 years ago. So I started the hunt for the best drug store self tanner that didn't make me look like an oompa loompa. So I've done some research and found that L'oreal's Sublime Bronze Tanning Towelettes was rated really high on several beauty websites. And for only $9.99, I decided to give it a try. I don't like it. In fact, it's one of the worst tanning products I've ever tried.
These look easy enough not to screw this up. Well.... take a look at my lovely feet. Eww.
Pros: Inexpensive, long lasting, great for those who want to maintain their tan
Cons: uneven color, difficult to apply, smells horrible, not good for fair skinned individuals
Eww what's wrong with my right foot?
So the first time I tried these towelettes, it seemed so easy. You unfold the towel and apply all over areas. I tried to make sure I didn't apply to much on my ankles, feet, knees, hands, etc. You know, those places that are the dead give aways that you are rocking a bottle tan. I showered, exfoliated, made sure i moisturized any dry spots, then once my skin was completely dry, I rubbed the towelette on my arms, legs, feet and chest area. Let it dry before I got dressed and went to bed. When I woke up the next morning, my right foot & leg was super tan & streaky and my left foot and leg look like my cat applied my self tanner. My arms had steaks all over and my chest and upper thighs look like i did nothing. Except the inside of my things and the folds of my elbows where I was quite tan. I let it wear off since I was away and decided to try it one more time once I got home. So I gave it another shot over the weekend and it was just as bad! I think the only people who can use this are those that are already tan that just want to maintain the glow. If you're like me and don't tan, don't use this. I would use Jergen's self tanner; either the mousse or the lotion. Doesn't smell as strong and is so much easier to apply.
These photos are my second attempt. Sorry for all the feet pics, but the self tanner took no where else buy my feet. And I applied it all over! If you ever have a self tanner misshape, mix baking soda & lemon juice into a paste, rub it liberally all over the uneven tan that you want to remove or even out. I used a slightly damp wash cloth and really rubbed the paste around my feet & legs until most of the color was removed. Such a life saver!
It looks like I have a rash. Really this self tanner took nowhere else on my body.
The funny thing is, I barely even applied this to my feet. I even tried to rub off excess from my feet. Which my face soaked up moisturizer as well as my feet soak up self tanner.
