THIRSTY THURSDAY: PALOMA
A few summers ago, some friends and I went to lunch at Love Shack in Denton. It was a ridiculously
hot summer day and all I wanted, besides a diet coke, was a super refreshing cocktail. No beer, no wine. Something cold, tart and deliciously smooth. My friend Beth told me to order the Paloma. I had no clue what it was, and was pleasantly surprised at how delicious it was. It is now one of my most favorite summer drinks. Maybe it's the grapefruit that makes it feel so refreshing and satisfying. Not to mention it's such an easy drink to make at home, that you really only need 3 ingredients. Maybe 4 if you want something a little less caloric than a soda. Regardless of calorie count, you definitely won't regret making one of these ladies on a hot summer evening.
Ingredients:
Silver Tequila
Grapefruit Soda
Lime or Lemon
Tools:
Cocktail Glass
Single Shot Glass
Awesome Straw
Instructions:
1. Fill the single shot glass with silver tequila. Pour into your cocktail glass.
2. Fill remainder of cocktail glass with grapefruit soda.
3. Cut 2 wedges of lime (or lemon). Squeeze one into glass. Use the other to garnish you glass.
4. Insert straw. Sip & enjoy!
See easy! I'd suggest not using gold tequila as it does not taste very good at all. If you want a more clean, non-soda, taste, substitute the grapefruit soda for fresh grapefruit juice and tonic water. You can even jazz it up a bit and put a splash of grenadine for a little sweeter taste. I've linked my stemware and supplies below! Remember though, drink responsibly and only if you're over 21!
